PREPARING AND PROTECTING AS LOCKDOWN EASES

Posted on

Amanda Worlock, from the Parish Council, provided a thoughtful summary of the situation at the present time for our last Stay Connected Meeting. We thought it was appropriate to publish it here.

Now that restrictions are being lifted and we all navigate our way around the new government guidance on travel, social distancing and who we can and can’t visit, plus the worry of test, trace and isolation, many of us will feel more concerned about keeping safe than we did with the very easily understood rules in Lockdown.

This is the time to think even more about how vulnerable many people remain. As we all start to cautiously step out of lockdown we need to remind ourselves that while trying to protect ourselves we also have a duty to make others feel safe too. Not only physically, but also psychologically. We need to be kind to those who are more fearful and show them respect.

We all make decisions based on our own assessment of the risks we are prepared to take for our wellbeing, be it mental health or physical health. What may be acceptable to me may not be alright for someone else. Accepting this is important and showing understanding and patience towards each other will help everyone take the steps back to the ‘new normal’ world we now live in.
