LOWICK CELEBRATES THE CORONATION
The news that Coronation Day will the the 6th May presents us with an opportunity to watch and celebrate this historic event here in Lowick.
It being only just springtime, it is not proposed to hold a fete that weekend – but to hold this over till June and warmer weather!
Nevertheless there will be three days of celebration in the village – so save the day – if not the whole weekend!
Coronation Day
As yet no time for the Coronation has been set, but when Elizabeth II was crowned, the ceremony began at 11.15 am, so can we expect something similar?
The Ceremony
In Lowick – the ceremony will be covered on the big screen in the Village Hall, with refreshments on hand to keep you going.
The Coronation Ceilidh
Starting at 7.30 there will be a Ceilidh and Hog Roast in the village hall, with dancing to local band Penny Dot. Tickets will be £5.00, and will be available soon.
Coronation Songs of Praise
Sunday 7th will see a Special Service of Celebration at St John’s Church, time to be announced. We are promised refreshments – a Coronation Chicken Roll is amongst the delicacies we can look forward to.
Coronation Volunteering Day
The King has announced that he hopes a focus of the Coronation will be volunteering in the Community. We are organising a community litter picking party, starting with bacon sandwich and a cuppa to get you going.
Full Details of these events will be published shortly. If you would like to help organise or take part, please get in touch with us via email.
