HERITAGE GROUP POSTPONES HUNTING HALL TALK

Posted on

Due to the Covid Omicron Wave, the session timed for TONIGHT has been postponed, probably until March.

Details were as follows:

The Archaeology section of Lowick Heritage Group has just completed a third dig on the site at Hunting Hall. Once again the efforts of so many volunteers, under the (very patient!) guidance of Kristian Pedersen of Edinburgh University, have been rewarded with a better but far from complete understanding of how people lived and farmed there for more than 4000 years. As seems always to be the case, for every question answered we found yet more uncertainty and after two months we’ve left ourselves with much to discover and discuss. For instance, the purpose of multiple charcoal filled pits, the many post and stake holes and the reason behind carefully stone filled trenches. Perhaps the next few months of analysing the soil samples and discussion with visiting experts will provide further clues.
