THE HOLE TRUTH
A sign that things are getting back to normal is the appearance of a large hole in the road at Barmoor Corner! Cllr Hanson supplies the news:
My thanks go to Cameron Bell for alerting me to the hole in the Barmoor Lane junction, along with Marjorie Bell for keeping me updated. You will be pleased to know that NCC’s Highways Department is now looking into this void (sorry I could not resist typing that).
As you can see from the attached photographs, a kerbstone at the Barmoor Lane junction has dropped over half a metre into the void below it. The B6353 (Barmoor Lane) has been significantly undercut. In view of the weight and volume of the harvest traffic currently going over this road junction, I am pleased that the Highways Department acted so quickly out-of-hours to cordon the area off. No doubt there will be major roadworks in due course to fill the hole and to prevent its recurrence.
