NEW COUNCILLOR FOR LOWICK
Rebecca Maitland been elected to the Parish Council, following the resignation of Councillor Will Perks, who has left the village.
Rebecca, who is 19, is one of the youngest Parish Councillors in the country, and is a native of the village. Having attended Lowick School, Berwick Middle and Berwick Academy, she is employed by Glendale PR, which is based in the Lowick.
Commenting on her appointment Rebecca said, “I am honoured to be elected, and I hope to be able to be the voice of the next generation on the Council.”
Chair of the Council, John Huddart added: “When we learning that Rebecca was prepared to stand we were really excited. The average age is of a Parish Council is usually considerably higher! We often discuss issues that young people have opinions about, and now we have their voice at meetings.”
