LOWICK ARCHAEOLOGY GROUP 2018

Posted on

The Lowick Archaeology Group 2018  is a sub-group of Lowick Heritage Group.

The Group, led by Dr Kristian Pedersen, meets regularly throughout the year, usually on a Monday morning. During the past two years, the sessions have included lectures, walks, field walking, and excavations near the Dryburn Road and at Hunting Hall.

We are currently involved in two projects –

1) Excavating beside the ‘Iron Age Fort’ at Hunting Hall.  We next meet at Hunting Hall on Monday 5 February at 10 am; and

2) Excavating near the base of the Dryburn Lime Kiln, as part of the project to conserve the kiln. We hope to spend a few days early February, opening a trial pit, with the possibility of extending it, at a later date.

If you would like to find out more, please contact Julie Gibbs on 01289 388950 or at juliegibbs1@btinternet.com. We are a friendly group with members from the surrounding villages and further afield. No experience is necessary, just an interest in the local area.
